BARGAINING
UPDATES
February 10, 2026
On Monday, we met with the administration’s bargaining committee. Despite their statement last session that they felt aligned with the sentiments shared in our coworkers’ testimonials and would work to bring substantive counters to this session, they did not respond to our concerns on health and safety, rejected our proposal to prevent warrantless entry to our work areas, and did not respond at all to our nondiscrimination proposal or interim agreement to protect grad workers from ICE.
We know that Pitt sees our power. Our organizing committee is mobilizing to demand Pitt accept our most recent counter proposals and interim agreement. To get connected to this effort, follow @pittgradunion on social media and get connected to an organizer in your field by clicking here.
In conjunction with a new Appointments counter proposal, we presented a new proposal to the administration that guarantees appointment in the bargaining unit for Ph.D students. We also offered counter proposals on hours of work and support. To see these and all other active proposals, check out our Bargaining Tracker.
Finally, remember that if you served as a TA/TF/GSA/GSR in the Fall semester, you should have received your September-December back pay, and if you are currently a TA/TF/GSA/GSR your January stipend should reflect a 2.5% wage increase. If you do not see these reflected in your PittWorx pay information, please fill out this form.
To see this and previous updates and newsletters here. If you are interested in joining future bargaining sessions as an observer, fill out this general interest form. Don’t forget to fill out your membership card if you haven’t already, or to fill out this form if your working conditions change. The administration will NOT have access to your membership card information (including whether or not you signed one) until our first contract is ready for ratification.
In solidarity,
Your bargaining committee
