BARGAINING
UPDATES

September 30, 2026

On Wednesday, we exchanged proposals on Hours of Work, Holidays, and Artificial Intelligence. We were disappointed by Pitt’s unwillingness to commit to human-taught classes; instead, they want to open the pathway to entire classes taught by AI and therefore reduce available teaching appointments.

We proposed a stipend raise over a month ago and employee benefits two weeks ago, but we received only silence from Pitt at the bargaining table. The only economic counterproposal that the administration responded to was on Holidays, where the administration struck our language about time off for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

If you’re interested in staying up to date on important union matters, learning more about what your union can do for you, and how you can help. Join us for our second General Body Meeting on Thursday 10/08 in Benedum 1045 from 5-6 pm. There will be pizza.

We can only win the contract we deserve if we stand up and fight together. To get involved in organizing click here. If you want to join future bargaining sessions, sign up here.

Don’t forget to fill out your membership card if you haven’t already. The administration will NOT have access to your membership card information (including whether or not you signed one) until our first contract is ready for ratification.

See this and previous updates and newsletters here. Also, fill out this form if your working conditions change, including changes in the cost of prescription medications.
